Before launching his eponymous line, Blake Kuwahara trained as an optometrist in Los Angeles before establishing himself as one of the optical industry's most influential creative directors. Driven by the philosophy that eyewear should enhance individual personality rather than overpower it, he established his independent label to bridge the gap between architectural art and daily wearability.

Designed in his Los Angeles studio and executed by master craftspeople in Sabae, Japan, the collection is best known for its seamless integration of complex forms. Whether working with multi-layered acetates or high-grade titanium, Kuwahara prioritizes subtle structural depth, tactile finishes, and refined proportions.

Design & Artistry

Proprietary Lamination: Signature acetate styles utilize a specialized rim-in-rim casting process that fuses an inner frame contour directly inside a sculpted outer silhouette without visible seam gaps.

Japanese Titanium Construction: Metal models are precision-milled from high-purity Japanese titanium, providing structural rigidity, hypoallergenic properties, and a lightweight feel.

Hand-Polished Finish: Each frame undergoes a multi-stage tumbling and hand-polishing sequence in Japan to achieve smooth transitions along beveled edges and high-luster surface clarity.

Custom Hardware & Hinges: Integrated custom core-wires, robust multi-barrel hinges, and sculpted end-pieces are engineered to maintain structural tension and allow for precise custom fitting.
